Project information in english
The project aims at the better accessibility of audiovisual interviews, which will also improve and broaden research in Austrian contemporary history.
There are nearly no homogenous holdings of such interviews, most of them lack documentation and their long term preservation perspective is bleak.
So the project will come up with a scientific identification and analysis of all interviews existing in Austria – and will open them up by means of a specifically designed internet platform. This will include the interview holdings of the Österreichische Mediathek as well as interviews in other archives and in private hands.
Aside from its online accessibility they will also be safeguarded (digitisation, digital long term storage). A basic methodology for the scientific use of this type of source will be developed (f. i. a typology of all kind of interviews). Another goal are online-learning aids aimed at this type of source.
The scientifically interested public will be included by means of crowdsourcing and the possibility to post comments on the internet platform.
