His play La folle Journée, ou Le Mariage de Figaro (The Mad Day, or The Marriage of Figaro), first performed in 1784, was the model for the libretto for Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro), which was written by Lorenzo da Ponte.
