"Im Tal" warten die Idyllen der verlorenen Kindheit auf ihn, - so hofft der Ich-Erzähler. Was er jedoch dort findet, sind Feuchte und Schmutz in den Zimmern, geistige Dumpfheit in der Gaststube und ein seltsames Wesen in einer dunklen Ecke, das zuerst wie ein Hund aussieht, sich jedoch als Mädchen entpuppt.
