Inhalt
The two daughters of Manuel Garcia and Joaquina Stiches, Maria Malibran and Paulline Viardot, are the most famous sisters in the history of opera. In their time they were both labelled mezzo sopranos, but with careful study their voices were able to encompass many parts sung as a general rule by sopranos. Marilyn Horne has recorded a selection from their widely varying roles.
