In the Ocean of Streams of Story

Because of newer technologies, we are now able to understand a sea of simultaneous story-streams better than a single narrative line. And we have come to believe that non-linear, multi-faceted compositions represent reality better than the Aristotelian model. Consonant with the breakdown of the linear narrative, the distinction between documentary and fiction collapses. We are not troubled by the idea that documentary films are constructions just as much as fiction films, that constructed and real are not mutually exclusive concepts.
